Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
My current charge is £45 a session.
How long does a session last?
All sessions last for 50 minutes.
Do you see couples?
No, I only work with individuals.
Would I have to come to you?
Yes. I currently only work face to face, not by phone or online. The only exception to this is where an existing client is unable to come for appointments for a limited period of time, perhaps due to illness. It may then be possible to arrange for a limited number of telephone sessions to maintain therapeutic contact throughout a difficult period.
How often would I have to come?
Usually once a week.
How long would I need to come to see you for?
This varies a lot. Some people find a few sessions helpful to deal with a specific problem, some spend more time sorting out problems that keep coming back or have been around a long time and others work with me on an open-ended basis. We would discuss this at your initial session.
How long would I have to wait before you could see me?
I try to respond to your initial enquiry within a couple of days and if we arrange to meet I would usually offer you an appointment within a week.
What sort of counselling do you do?
I am a gestalt counsellor, this means that I work very much in the 'here and now', focusing on what is happening in the current moment, rather than what happened in the past, although, whre a cleint feels that they are still being influenced by past events these may form an important part ofour work. The important thing for me is that the counselling is client led.
I aim to help you gain self awareness, as this increases your choices and allows you to make your own informed decisions. I believe that every individual has the potential to heal themselves. My aim is to help facilitate the changes that you may wish to make, not to provide advice, or instructions. Overall my approach is holistic, recognising that everything is relevant and that each individual is unique.

Do you work with young people?
